Landscape rocks are heavier than they look! As a rule of thumb:
- Crushed rock: ~1.5 tonnes per cubic metre
- Large landscaping rock: ~1.2 – 1.4 tonnes per cubic metre
Our advice: If a rock is over 400 – 500mm in diameter, you’ll want a machine, not muscles.
Our landscape rocks vary in size anywhere from the size of a cricket ball right through to the size of a small car. Whether you’re building a path, a retaining wall or a garden feature we’ve got the right size.
We charge per loose cubic metre. Why “loose”? Because boulders for landscaping don’t stack like bricks – pricing by loose cubic metre keeps it fair no matter the shape or size of stone.
Absolutely. Come down to our yard and you can hand-select the perfect landscape rocks for your project.
It depends on what you pick:
- Around 35 – 50 football-sized landscape rocks will fit into a cubic metre.
- Or just one really big hero garden rock.
For anything bigger than 400 – 500mm diameter, you’ll need machinery:
- 1.7T excavator: up to ~800mm
- 3T excavator: up to ~1m
- 5T excavator: up to ~1.2m
- 8T excavator: up to ~1.5m
Bigger than that?
- You’re into 20T+ excavator territory.
Best option is a soft surface (soil, mulch, sand). Our trucks are tippers, so we recommend preparing a cushioned area:
- Avoid tipping garden rocks directly on concrete, paving, or asphalt (unless you enjoy cracks and council complaints).
- Pallets, soil, or mulch make excellent buffers.
Give us a call to discuss access and the safest drop-off plan.
We have different trucks in our fleet for different situations – from compact trucks (2m³ capacity) to heavy haulers (+20m³).
If you’re worried about access, send us a photo of your driveway / yard and we’ll match the right truck or check out our fleet photos to get some truck dimensions.
We can supply a forklift to unload pallets of landscape rock steps, seats or sawn stone. We will drop off the pallet, allowing you or your landscaper to organise placement. Check out our excavator guide above to work out the size of the machine you’d need to place your garden rocks.
Yes – bring a ute, trailer, or truck.
Please don’t load landscape rocks into the cabin of your car (windscreens and dashboards don’t win against garden boulders).
Always check your vehicle’s maximum load capacity before loading.
Yes – we deliver across Melbourne, Geelong, the Surf Coast, the Mornington Peninsula, Central Highlands, and Shepparton. Delivery cost depends on distance, load size, and site access.
Usually we can deliver within a few days. During peak landscaping season, or for large loads allow extra lead time. A good rule of thumb: if selecting your stone, come to pick around 1.5 – 2 weeks before you need it delivered.
We offer deliveries arriving from 7:00 AM until 4:00 PM, with the last truck generally leaving our yard by 3:30 PM each day. We are not able to offer delivery on Saturdays, however if you’ve got a trailer or ute, we can load your vehicle.
Yes – we regularly supply landscapers, councils, schools, cemeteries, builders, and homeowners. From small garden projects to large civic upgrades, we can scale to your needs.
Yes – our landscape rocks are locally sourced natural products. Unlike manufactured pavers or concrete, they require no energy-intensive processing. Plus, they last for decades without maintenance.
